Potato 2005 – An amazing successThe sixth edition of Potato 2005 has ended. The beautiful weather and the overwhelming interest have ensured that exhibitors and visitors have told us that Potato 2005 has been an amazing success.
In total over 11,000 people have visited Potato 2005, 11,304 to be exact. The division of these visitors over the various days is as follows:
Wednesday 7 September 2005 3,427Thursday 8 September 2005 3,822Friday 9 September 2005 4,055
These visitors represented over 50 nationalities in total. The total number of exhibitors on the trade show, field demonstrations, and machinery demonstrations was 230. These exhibitors came from 11 countries. With 5830m² sold at the trade show, Potato 2005 was equal to Potato 2000. A unique demonstration also took place. All 5 harvesting machines present at Potato 2005 harvested at the same time next to each other, observed by hundreds of visitors.
The exhibition was opened in a festive way on Wednesday by Mr. W.F.L.C. ridder van Rappard, mayor of the municipality of the Noordoostpolder. Before this festive opening took place there was a special visit to the trade show by the Russian minister of Agriculture, Mr. A. Gordeev accompanied by his Dutch colleague, Mr. C.P. Veerman, Minister of Agriculture. After the visit to the trade show Mr. Gordeev gave a presentation at the Potato 2005 congress, after which a press conference took place.
Preceding the trade show the Minister of Agriculture, Nature and Food quality, Mr. C.P. Veerman, opened the congress with a key-note presentation. The Potato 2005 congress was attended by 356 participants from 36 different countries.All in all we, as organisation, can look back on a successful event, and we look forward to the next edition!
